California’s 15th Congressional District — which runs along the San Francisco Peninsula through much of San Mateo County and into the southeastern corner of The City — is not a flashy district. It doesn’t generate the national headlines that some of its neighbors do.

What it needs is a representative who shows up, knows the district’s communities and delivers. Mullin does that. The Examiner Editorial Board endorses him for reelection.

Mullin came to Congress in 2022, succeeding the long-serving Jackie Speier after 10 years in the California State Assembly, where he served as speaker pro tempore. He arrived in Washington, D.C., already fluent in the machinery of legislation — a significant advantage in a chamber in which new members often spend their first term finding their footing.

After just two years in Congress, House Democratic leadership appointed him to the influential House Energy and Commerce Committee, where he serves on the Energy Subcommittee and the Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade Subcommittee — one of the most consequential assignments in the House for a district that sits at the intersection of the Bay Area’s technology economy and its clean energy future. He has also been appointed co-chair of the Congressional Task Force on Strengthening Democracy.

The 15th District deserves a representative who knows its needs and has the seniority and committee assignments to address them. Mullin has earned a second term.
