MEET KEVIN
Congressman Kevin Mullin was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022. He began his public service as a South San Francisco City Councilmember and Mayor, a before being elected to the California State Assembly, where he served as Speaker pro Tempore. In the California Assembly, he authored more than 60 of bills that were signed into law including landmark legislation pioneering all vote-by-mail elections and combating dark money in state campaigns.
Expanding access to the ballot box and strengthening our democracy was one of Kevin’s top priorities in the Assembly. In Congress, he will continue to defend our democracy from those who ignore the will of the people and the rule of law.
He supported legislation protecting reproductive freedoms and advocated for over $27 million in federal funding for community projects to improve flood controls, bikeways, roads, and trails.
Kevin will work to ensure the country follows California’s lead to fight climate change and electrify public transit as CalTrain plans to do in its modernization plan.
In Congress, he serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee. Congressman Mullin introduced his first bill, the Weatherization Resilience and Adaptation Program (WRAP) Act, providing assistance to low-income homeowners and affordable housing providers so their properties are more resilient to climate change.
Kevin also authored legislation to modernize the federal poverty limit so that eligibility standards for safety net benefits consider the cost of housing, child care, and healthcare.
Kevin has been appointed to the Task Force on Strengthening Democracy and has pushed for the passage of H.R.11: the Freedom to Vote Act. This bill would bolster our democracy by protecting voting rights, ending partisan gerrymandering, improving campaign finance, and safeguarding the electoral process.
